[News] PHILIPPINE FASHION WEEK SUMMER 2012: Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer leads runway "invasion" of a retail clothing brand

The last week of October turned out to be a frantic, highly-charged homestretch for the lifestyle press corps, models, designers, beauty queens, athletes, celebrities and just about everyone involved with the bevy of activities lined up for the entire duration of the much-awaited Philippine Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012.

Aside from the motley crew of foreign and local models, several big-name celebrities also graced the fashion shows, including Kapamilya stars Piolo Pascual, Angelica Panganiban, Bea Alonzo, Kim Chiu, Enchong Dee, Julia Montes, Kathryn Bernardo, Tippy Dos Santos, Zia Quizon; Kapuso stars Maxene Magalona, Bubbles Paraiso, Jay-R, Aljur Abrenica, Rocco Nacino, Sarah Lahbati, Steven Silva, Janine Gutierrez, Isabelle Daza; and JC de Vera standing out as TV5's lone representative

But even the frenzy generated by the homegrown celebrities proved to be no match for the hysteria that greeted the appearance of Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer.

In what could be rightfully called a stellar finale, the young multimedia superstar headlined the Penshoppe Fashion Show held last October 29, Saturday, at the SMX Convention Center.

Ladies of all ages were screaming, as Mario sauntered onstage garbed in a white long-sleeved shirt paired with acid-washed denims—his interpretation of a timeless fashion combo.

Penshoppe officially launched Mario as the brand's latest celebrity endorser last October 28, Friday, at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

The Thai celebrity first came to the Philippines last October 26, Wednesday, to grace the opening festivities of a Bon Chon branch in Quezon City.

Both events were mobbed by his Filipino loyal fans—mostly teenagers—who were all excited to get a glimpse of Shone, his famous character in the hit Thai film, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, which was aired here last June 5.

The 22-year-old half-Chinese, half-German actor-model endeared himself to international audiences via the film The Love of Siam, where he gained renown for his lovable character Tong.

Last September 23, Friday, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), reported the possibility of a movie project involving Mario and Kapamilya actress Erich Gonzales.

Finally, last October 28, it was confirmed that the Thai celebrity will be paired with the Star Magic Talent in a Star Cinema film entitled Suddenly It's Magic, to be megged by award-winning Filipino director Rory Quintos.
