[TRIVIA] Will Mario Maurer fall for a Pinay?

" The Thai superstar and new Penshoppe model says that what first attracts him to a girl is the face, eyes and hips. "

Mario Maurer, the Thai superstar who has captured the hearts of Filipinos, was a big, pleasant surprise when we had him on The Buzz last week. He is extremely sensible at 22, intelligent, honest, accommodating and sordidly gorgeous. No wonder boys, girls and gays swoon over him. Aside from good looks, Mario has got the talent. His acting debut via Love of Siam earned for him a Best Actor trophy from the 10th Cinemanila International Film Festival. He played a gay role in the movie. He was also a sensation inCrazy Little Thing Called Love.

Initially, he was hesitant to play the part of a gay man inLove of Siam. “Because I am a hundred percent man. But I think the role of gay in the movie was good. It was not something that teaches you to be gay.” (Besides, being gay cannot be taught, I wanted to whisper to the delicious ears of Mario).

What made him finally accept the offer was his family. “At first, I didn’t want to do it. When I heard I was being cast in the movie, I locked my door. My manager came to the house and I pretended sick. Then my friend told me that I should think about my family because my mom has been working so hard for a long time. And it’s a good opportunity for me. So I said, I’ll try it.”

Mario said that he has never acted before or has studied acting. “I don’t know what is acting. I just follow what my director told me.”

Mario, who has an older brother named Marco who sings and raps, was inspired to enter showbiz because of his family. His mother has a gas station and he’d run around the gas station doing odd jobs like filling car tanks with gas, cleaning cars, filling tires with air. When his father died, Mario got the biggest shock of his life. “My career was picking up and I was into my second movie. Luckily, he got to watch Love of Siam. And he said, it’s very good.”

Mario is the next Penshoppe model. He will also be shooting a movie with Erich Gonzalez as leading lady. It will be shot in Thailand and the Philippines. Asked if it is possible for him to fall in love with a Filipina, Mario said yes. “Filipinas are beautiful. People here are nice to me.” What attracts him to a woman are the face, hair, eyes, legs and hips. “The hips are what make a woman sexy,” he said.

A typical day for Mario in Thailand is going skateboarding and fixing old cars. “I skated when I was a kid. I fix old cars like Volkswagen because it’s my hobby and I do it with friends.”

Growing up in Bangkok, Mario spends his day skateboarding with friends until his father told him one day, “Why don’t you play tennis or golf, they’ll make you more money. But I said no, it’s not fun, dad.”

And then, one day, a whole new world called showbiz opened for Mario and the rest, they say, is history. Here are some fast talk questions The Buzz asked Mario and his fast answers.

Favorite movie? Forrest Gump.

Favorite sleepwear? T-shirt and boxers.

First thing you do when you wake up? Brush my teeth.

Last thing you do before you sleep? Take out my contact lens.

Sexiest part of your body? My chest.

Three things you like in a girl? Fun, sweet and clever.

What is love? Love is like air. You cannot see it but you cannot live without it. You think it is not important but you need it all the time.

[News] Top Thai Star Mario Maurer to Promote Korean Tourism

Thai singer and actor Mario Maurer is to be appointed as a promotional ambassador for Korean tourism by the Korea Tourism Organization.

The 23-year-old will make a four-day trip to the country along with four winners of a drawing competition named "Feel Korea with Mario" carried out by the Bangkok branch of the organization.
Mario's entire itinerary will be filmed and broadcast on the popular Thai entertainment TV program "Surivipa Show" next month.
Mario, who is of Thai and German descent, is one of Thailand's top celebrities. He became popular in Korea due in part to his physical resemblance to one of the country's leading movie stars and was dubbed "Thailand's Won Bin" when he visited Korea in 2009.
Meanwhile, the number of Thai tourists who came to Korea last year jumped 37 percent to set a new record of 260,000.

[News] PHILIPPINE FASHION WEEK SUMMER 2012: Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer leads runway "invasion" of a retail clothing brand

The last week of October turned out to be a frantic, highly-charged homestretch for the lifestyle press corps, models, designers, beauty queens, athletes, celebrities and just about everyone involved with the bevy of activities lined up for the entire duration of the much-awaited Philippine Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012.

Aside from the motley crew of foreign and local models, several big-name celebrities also graced the fashion shows, including Kapamilya stars Piolo Pascual, Angelica Panganiban, Bea Alonzo, Kim Chiu, Enchong Dee, Julia Montes, Kathryn Bernardo, Tippy Dos Santos, Zia Quizon; Kapuso stars Maxene Magalona, Bubbles Paraiso, Jay-R, Aljur Abrenica, Rocco Nacino, Sarah Lahbati, Steven Silva, Janine Gutierrez, Isabelle Daza; and JC de Vera standing out as TV5's lone representative

But even the frenzy generated by the homegrown celebrities proved to be no match for the hysteria that greeted the appearance of Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer.

In what could be rightfully called a stellar finale, the young multimedia superstar headlined the Penshoppe Fashion Show held last October 29, Saturday, at the SMX Convention Center.

Ladies of all ages were screaming, as Mario sauntered onstage garbed in a white long-sleeved shirt paired with acid-washed denims—his interpretation of a timeless fashion combo.

Penshoppe officially launched Mario as the brand's latest celebrity endorser last October 28, Friday, at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

The Thai celebrity first came to the Philippines last October 26, Wednesday, to grace the opening festivities of a Bon Chon branch in Quezon City.

Both events were mobbed by his Filipino loyal fans—mostly teenagers—who were all excited to get a glimpse of Shone, his famous character in the hit Thai film, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, which was aired here last June 5.

The 22-year-old half-Chinese, half-German actor-model endeared himself to international audiences via the film The Love of Siam, where he gained renown for his lovable character Tong.

Last September 23, Friday, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), reported the possibility of a movie project involving Mario and Kapamilya actress Erich Gonzales.

Finally, last October 28, it was confirmed that the Thai celebrity will be paired with the Star Magic Talent in a Star Cinema film entitled Suddenly It's Magic, to be megged by award-winning Filipino director Rory Quintos.

[News] Mario Maurer, Erich Gonzales Movie ‘Suddenly, It’s Magic’ Confirmed

Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer and Erich Gonzales will be making a movie. Entitled ‘Suddenly, It’s Magic’, the Mario Maurer – Erich Gonzales starrer will be shot mainly in Thailand but some scenes will be filmed in Manila. Star Cinema confirmed the making of ‘Suddenly, It’s Magic’ during the official contract signing of Mario with the film outfit yesterday. Mario Maurer is now a Kapamilya!

Mario Maurer arrived yesterday for his Penshoppe engagements in the country. From the airport, Maurer went straight to work to his first media appearance during the store opening of Bon Chon Chicken in Tomas Morato, Quezon City. After the contract signing, Maurer gladly answered questions from the media about his stint here in the Philippines and his upcoming project with Star Cinema.

No, he has not met Erich Gonzales yet but Maurer is excited to meet her. The feeling is mutual, I suppose.

A FanCon has been scheduled on Friday at 1PM for Maurer’s fans (details of the FanCon HERE). The Thai actor is also expected to grace Penshoppe’s PhilippineFashion Week show on October 29 to be held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
